Hey there, folks in Polson! We’ve got some exciting events and activities coming up that you won’t want to miss. Let’s dive right in!

First up, mark your calendars for April 18th because we’ve got something important on the agenda. Dustin Blush will be giving a Computer Scam Awareness presentation during lunchtime. And guess what’s on the menu? Meatloaf! It’s open to everyone, including our younger crowd, so spread the word. For any last-minute updates on timing, just give the Polson Senior Center a call, and they’ll fill you in.

Looking ahead to April 26th, Western Pleasure Tours is treating us to a special video presentation at noon. They’ve got some fantastic budget-friendly modern bus tours lined up, perfect for exploring the beauty of the West. If you’re curious and want more details, reach out to them at 208-283-9776.

Now, let’s talk about something near and dear to our hearts: National Volunteer Month. If you or someone you know has volunteered at the center, we want to hear about it! Whether they’ve been a leader, driver, helper with commodities, or contributed in any other way, we want to celebrate their service. Join us for lunch during the fourth week of April, with a special finale on the last Friday. We might even snap a group picture to commemorate the occasion!

  • Wednesday Fun Day: It’s Cribbage Day, plus a whole bunch of other games like Scrabble, Mahjongg, Bridge, Dominoes, Backgammon, and more. Bring your favorite game and a friend, or come and learn something new. We kick things off at 12:30 p.m. in the main hall.
  • AARP Safe Driver Course: Want to save on your auto insurance? Join us on April 23rd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the newest AARP Safe Driver Course. It’s $25 for registration, or $20 for AARP members. No test is required, just a valuable four-hour video-assisted course presented by a trained leader.
  • Wood Carving for Beginners: Every Wednesday and Friday at 1 p.m., it’s your chance to get creative with wood carving. No experience is necessary, so feel free to join in anytime.
  • Bowling: Tuesdays at 1 p.m., it’s time to hit the lanes! The lane fee is $13, and it’s an open group, so don’t worry if you can’t make it every week.
  • Bridge: Interested in playing Bridge? Stop by the center and inquire about joining a game.
  • Memory Café: For those in need of dementia support, our Memory Café meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 1 to 3 p.m. We’ve got snacks and plenty of fun activities to enjoy.
  • VA Rep.: Need assistance with VA-related matters? Our VA Representative is available for walk-ins on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month.

There you have it, folks! Plenty of opportunities to learn, socialize, and have fun right here at the Polson Senior Center. We can’t wait to see you there!

Bingo Nights: Get ready to shout “Bingo!” because Friday nights are bingo nights here at the center. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the games start promptly at 6:30 p.m. With a chance to win a $100 blackout prize, it’s an evening of excitement and entertainment. Plus, don’t forget about our special “Playing Card” bingo on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. It’s a whole lot of fun for $10 or less, so gather your lucky charms and join us for some bingo bliss!

Exercise Classes: Whether you prefer sitting or standing, we’ve got exercise classes to suit your needs. Join us on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for video-assisted guidance to help you stay active and healthy.

Pinochle: Calling all card enthusiasts! Join us on Thursdays from 12:30 to 3 p.m. for a friendly game of Pinochle. It’s a great way to exercise your mind and connect with fellow players.

Pool: Looking to show off your skills on the felt? Our pool table is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., so come on down and sink some shots with friends old and new.

Now, let’s talk about everyone’s favorite topic: food! Our menu is chock-full of delicious options, with a suggested donation of $5 for your meal to help support our Nutrition Program. Here’s what we’ve got cooking up for the week:

In addition to all the excitement happening at the center, we’ve got some informative presentations lined up as well. Tax Assistance: Need a hand with your taxes? We’ve got you covered. Tax assistance is available at the senior center through April 15, sponsored by AARP. Just give us a call to schedule an appointment time and let our experts help you navigate the tax season with ease at Polson.

AARP Safe Driver Course: Polson, Want to save on your auto insurance? Other Activities: Polson, We’ve got plenty of other activities to keep you entertained, including wood carving for beginners on Wednesdays and Fridays at 1 p.m., self-guided, video-assisted exercise sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., and pinochle on Thursdays from 12:30 to 3 p.m. And don’t forget about our bingo nights on Fridays, where you could win big with a $100 blackout prize.

Veteran’s Representative Visit: Polson, Attention veterans! A veteran’s representative will be visiting the center on April 16 from 10 a.m. to noon. Stop by to learn about available resources and get assistance with any questions you may have.

Meals: Hungry? We’ve got you covered. Meals are available for sit-down, take-out, or delivery from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on weekdays. A suggested donation of $5 helps support our nutrition program, and our menu is posted each week at the center. Call before 10 a.m. for grab-n-go convenience at Polson.

Here’s a sneak peek at some of our upcoming main dishes of Polson: pork chops on April 11, corned beef hash on April 12, sweet and sour meatballs on April 16, baked chicken on April 17, meatloaf on April 18, and sloppy Joes on April 19.

Whole week program:

  • Thursday, April 18: Indulge in some comfort food with meatloaf, baked potatoes, creamed corn, a fresh green salad, and custard for dessert.
  • Friday, April 19: It’s Sloppy Joe’s night, served with tater tots, mixed vegetables, a crisp green salad, and pistachio pudding to top it all off.
  • Monday, April 22: Warm up with a bowl of hearty Navy bean soup, served with cheese bread, pears, and cookies for a sweet treat.
  • Tuesday, April 23: Feast on ham and scalloped potatoes, accompanied by carrots, tomato aspect salad, and key lime bars for a tangy finish.
  • Wednesday, April 24: Enjoy a taste of Mexico with soft shell tacos, Mandarin oranges, and Cherry dump cake for dessert.
  • Thursday, April 25: Sink your teeth into a Polish dog, served with baked beans, spaghetti salad, and vanilla pudding to satisfy your sweet tooth.
  • Friday, April 26: Join us for a special birthday dinner for lunch, featuring roast turkey with all the trimmings and, of course, cake too!
